On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC) plc, conducted a ceremony for the handover of the renovated Under Five Clinic at Bwaila District Hospital in Lilongwe (Bottom). The event was a result of tremendous effort from both the MAIIC team and the Bwaila healthcare providers, who worked diligently to make this happen.
The ceremony featured a meticulously curated program that was conducted by the Master of Ceremony, District Health Promotion Officer, Mr. Richard Mvula, guiding attendees through every moment.
Highlights of the program included a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Deputy Mayor of Lilongwe, Miss Ruth Chingwalu Njirayafa, and a walkthrough of the newly refurbished rooms led by the Nursing Officer, Miss Constance Nkhoma. This was followed by a background tour of the facilities, showcasing the improvements made to the observation, emergency, and clinical rooms.
Speeches were delivered by the Acting CEO of MAIIC, Mr. Lloyd Banda, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to support the community’s healthcare needs. Dr. Wilson Ching’ani, Director of Health & Social Services, and Nursing Officer Miss Constance Nkhoma also shared their heartfelt thanks for the investment. The Deputy Mayor’s speech further highlighted how these efforts will significantly improve health services for children.
A symbolic dummy check was presented, representing the cost of renovating the three rooms and surrounding areas of the Under Five Clinic. The ceremony concluded with the CEO presenting gifts to the children, followed by a group photo with MAIIC staff, hospital staff, and attendees in front of the beautifully renovated building.
This project is a testament to MAIIC’s unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare for children and fostering a brighter future for the community.
