MAIIC and Parliament Committee Visit MSME FInES Project Beneficiaries

On 15th February 2025, Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC), together with the Industry, Trade & Commerce Parliament Committee, visited two MSME FInES Project beneficiaries to assess the impact of financial support on their businesses.

The first stop was a value addition factory in Kanengo, where locally sourced rice, peanuts, porridge flour, chili, and other products are processed and packaged for the market. This facility highlights the importance of agro-processing in enhancing food security and boosting local enterprise development. The team had the opportunity to put on safety gear and get firsthand, on-the-ground experience of different processing stages, from raw material selection to packaging.

The delegation then proceeded to Nsaru, where they visited a thriving poultry farm producing farm-fresh eggs. The visit included a thorough tour of the facility, showcasing the best practices in poultry farming and egg production. Witnessing the day-to-day operations gave valuable insights into the role of MSMEs in strengthening Malawi’s agricultural sector.

Beyond the insightful discussions, the experience was engaging and interactive, offering a practical appreciation of the dedication and innovation driving these businesses. These visits underscored the transformative impact of targeted financial interventions on MSMEs, reinforcing MAIIC’s commitment to fostering industrialization and sustainable business growth in Malawi.
